The course is beneficial for song leaders at any level of experience, whether you are unsure what a song leader is but are keen to try, or whether you have been song leading for years! ABOUT LARA Lara Goudie is classically trained in voice and piano and has been song-leading at small churches and large conferences for a decade. She has served in music at various Katoomba Christian Conventions such as KYC, KEC, KYCK, WKC and Engage as well as other conferences around Australia. In 2008 she led 10,000 people in worship of God in song at Mark Driscoll’s “Burn Your Plastic Jesus” at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. She trains song-leaders around Australia, including at the annual TWIST Music Ministry Conference, and is also a singing teacher. She has completed a Diploma of Theology at Sydney Missionary & Bible College and in 2008 released her debut solo album ‘Out of the Depths’ with 12 of her original songs. Beginning with theory, we will uncover a biblical understanding of the role of the song leader and then incorporate the theory of song leading with the practical side of song leading which will make up the bulk of the course. This course will cover everything from building confidence to microphone technique to what to say and do, including vocal technique, breathing and posture. There will be ample opportunity for questions, discussion, critique in a safe environment and lots of singing. The added benefit of a 6 week course is the opportunity for you to put into practice at church on Sunday what you have learned each Thursday and to receive honest, practical advice to keep you moving forward and delighting in using the gifts God has given you.
